I overheard a guy at the coffee shop say his work email got hacked because of a fake login page

I was sitting at a Starbucks near my office last Tuesday and this dude was on the phone talking about how he clicked a link that looked like his company's email login. He said it took them 4 days to kick the hacker out of their system and they lost access to client files from the last quarter. The thing is, the fake page had a misspelled URL like 'rnicrosoft' instead of 'microsoft' and he still missed it. I realized I probably would have fallen for the same thing if I was in a hurry. So now I double check every URL before I type my password, even if it looks normal. Has anyone else almost got caught by one of those fake login screens?

You ever notice how some of those fake URLs are so close you really gotta stare? I had a buddy who almost logged into a fake PayPal page once cause the "l" was swapped for a capital "I".

Ngl park.robin, I get what you're saying but most people catch those tricks because they slow down for two seconds. Anyone rushing that much probably would've fallen for the real scam too.
