My 10 year old password manager finally crapped out on me last Tuesday

I lost access to my entire vault when the sync failed mid-update and support told me the backup file was corrupted, has anyone else dealt with a sudden lockout like this and found a way to recover without losing everything?

Wow, corrupted backup file? That's brutal.

Corrupted backups are the digital version of stepping on a Lego while already having a headache. Made that mistake once with my old phone's photos and realized my backup drive was just a folder of errors. Now I keep three copies of everything, one in the cloud, one on a hard drive, and one tattooed on my arm in tiny print. At least with passwords you can try to guess them, but with corrupted data you're just staring at a brick. Hope you didn't lose anything too important.

Right, corrupted backup. That's like locking your keys in the car and the spare tire is also missing. Lost my whole vault on a 2017 LastPass disaster. Took me three weeks of digging through old browser autofill history. If you've got an old device the vault was still logged in on, try exporting from there before you touch anything else.
