My kid's teacher asked me a simple question about our home network

We were at a school event and she asked if our router password was still the one printed on the sticker. I said probably, and she just nodded and said 'That's like leaving your front door key under the mat.' It hit different because she wasn't a tech person, just a regular person who knew better. Made me realize how many basics I've let slide. Anyone have a good, simple checklist for securing a home network for non-experts?

My neighbor said the same thing to me last year and it was a wake-up call. I changed the default password and also turned off that WPS button on the router, which was apparently a weak spot. What's the first thing you're going to change?
