My old boss swore by password reuse and I almost paid the price

My manager at a small marketing firm in St. Louis told me it was fine to use the same password for everything since it was easier to remember. Last month, one of our client databases got breached and I found my personal email was part of a dump on Have I Been Pwned. Took me 3 days to reset all my accounts and now I use a free password manager instead. Has anyone else had a boss give terrible security advice like that?

Totally feel you on this one. My old boss at a construction company said the same thing and laughed at me for using a password manager. Then he got hit with a phishing email and lost access to like 15 different accounts at once. Bitwarden is free and super easy to set up, just takes an afternoon to swap everything over. Also turn on two factor wherever you can, it's a pain but way better than that scramble you just went through.

Drove me nuts when my last manager said the same thing. He actually printed out our passwords on a sticky note and taped it to his monitor. Got hit with ransomware three months later and lost months of client work. Now I just use a simple password manager too and refuse to share my master password with anyone. People really underestimate how fast that stuff can blow up on you.

Learned that lesson the hard way myself. Old habits die hard.
