Saw a public USB charging station in Denver that made me think twice

Was at the airport last week. Saw one of those free charging kiosks. You know, the ones with the built-in cables. Tried to plug in my phone. Then I remembered reading about juice jacking. That's where hackers load malware onto public ports. They can steal your data or lock your device. I just used my own power bank instead. Safer that way. Anyone else skip public chargers now?

Yeah the juice jacking thing is real, I saw a news story about it and now I just carry a battery pack everywhere lol.

Totally get why you do that, @alicew68. That story freaked me out too. It's crazy to think a simple charge could mess up your phone. I started using a charging-only cable from an old alarm clock for public ports. Carrying a battery pack is definitely the smarter move though, no risk at all.

Good point @davis.noah, that old cable trick is genius for dodging sketchy ports.
