Serious question, why does everyone use the same weak password for everything?

I work at a small IT help desk in Denver, and last month a guy came in panicking because his email got hacked. Turns out he used the same password for his bank, his Netflix, and his work login. I mean, I get it's convenient, but once one site gets breached, they all go down. How do you guys keep track of all your different passwords without going crazy?

My friend Sarah thought she was being clever by using "Password123!" for everything because she figured nobody would guess the exclamation point. Then her Instagram got taken over by a random guy in Nigeria who posted crypto spam to all her followers. She spent her whole Saturday resetting accounts and honestly I don't even know how she keeps track of them all now, do you use a password manager or just wing it like her?

Your friend Sarah learned the hard way that password tricks don't fool anyone for long. I use a password manager and never look back, it automatically creates strong passwords for every site so I only have to remember one master password. Might take an afternoon to set up but it saves you from spending a whole Saturday locked out of your own accounts.

Ha, @benc53's right about password managers but honestly I just use the same few passwords like a normal person. Too lazy to change.
