Update: Took me 6 hours to find a single bad USB cable
I spent most of a Saturday tracking down why my security camera feeds kept dropping out. Turned out a cheap USB extension cable from a discount bin was the problem, it passed power but not data. Anybody else had a tiny hardware issue eat up an entire afternoon?

Used my smartphone to unlock my car the other day. Worked like a charm. Then I tried the same trick on my fridge and stood there staring at a brick of cheese for ten minutes before I realized the fridge doesn't have a handle, let alone a lock.
