Warning: My 'easy' password manager update turned into a three hour lockout

I thought I was being smart by updating my password manager on a Tuesday night, but the new version broke my browser plugin. I spent until midnight trying to get back into my own bank account. Has anyone else had a routine update go this wrong?

Sometimes those updates are the only thing keeping the quiet evening possible, @alicew68. My smart lights would just stop working without them. The security patch last month fixed a huge wifi flaw. It's annoying when it reboots, but it beats getting hacked or having things break slowly.
