Bought a $60 windshield sun shade that does nothing in this heat

I finally caved and ordered that fancy accordion sun shade everyone swears by, paid $60 with shipping, and my car's dashboard still hit 150 degrees when I got off at 5:30 today. It flopped around in the wind and left gaps on both edges. Anyone else get burned by this kind of hype, or did I just pick a dud?

Expect a sun shade to drop the temp way down and you will always be let down. They block direct sun off the dash but the air inside a closed car still cooks, so 150 is normal even with a good one. Your edges just need to actually touch the glass and the gaps stop mattering much.
