Just got my laptop back from the shop and the charger port is on the wrong side now

Dropped my old Lenovo off at a repair place in Columbus last Tuesday cause the screen hinge snapped. Picked it up today and they replaced the whole bottom case, but the charger inlet is now on the left side instead of the right. My desk setup has the outlet on the right so the cord has to stretch across my keyboard. I asked the guy and he said the part was cheaper that way. So now I either rewire my whole desk or buy a 6 ft extension cord for like $8. Has anyone else had a repair shop swap something basic and just expect you to live with it?
