Rant: My GPS took me 20 minutes out of the way to avoid 3 cents of tolls

I was heading to my dentist appointment on I-35 in Austin and my map app rerouted me through some back roads to skip a $1.50 toll. Ended up stuck behind a school bus for 12 minutes and still paid the toll on the way back anyway. Why do these apps act like 2 dollars is worth wasting my whole afternoon?

Last year I would've called this a non-issue and told you to just enjoy the scenic route. Then my wife and I got rerouted around a $0.75 toll near Dallas and spent 25 extra minutes crawling through some neighborhood construction zone. We were already late for a dinner reservation and I nearly lost it. Now I just pay the toll and treat the app like a suggestion, not a boss.
