Shoutout to the guy at Home Depot who helped me find the right paint roller
I went in earlier today to grab a cheap roller for a quick touch up job on my living room wall. Some older employee walked by and just said "that sponge roller you're holding is gonna leave streaks, grab this one instead." He handed me a different kind with a shorter nap and explained how it holds paint better on smoother walls. Saved me from doing a whole wall twice and I was out of there in 5 minutes. Has anyone else had a random employee totally save a project for you?

No kidding, the Home Depot guy basically saved your paint job. That's a rare unicorn sighting right there, a store employee who actually knows what they're talking about. Last time I asked a guy there for help finding a specific lightbulb he just pointed vaguely towards the ceiling and said "uh, they're all over." The older dudes who've been there forever are the real MVPs though, they could probably tell you which paint to use by smelling the air in your kitchen. I feel like they secretly pull new hire aside and whisper "ok here's the deal, you help them pay for half the project on accident, I help them finish it right.

Oh man, that guy is a legend. I had almost the exact same thing happen but with sandpaper. I was grabbing some 120 grit for a table I was refinishing and an older employee in the orange apron just shook his head and told me I was about to ruin my project. He walked me over to a different aisle and picked out the right kind for stripping paint, not just smoothing it out. I would have been so mad if I had to do a whole second coat because I used the wrong paper. It really is always the guys who have been there for like 20 years who actually know their stuff.
