Shoutout to the guy at the auto parts store who didn't laugh at me
Asked for help finding a serpentine belt for my 2003 Civic and the guy actually walked me out to my car to show me the diagram instead of just handing me the wrong part like last time. Has anyone else had a counter person go the extra mile like that or is my luck just changing?

That guy being helpful just shows how rare it is when people actually slow down and treat you like a person instead of a transaction these days.

Cut through the sarcasm for a second - how many times has a quick Google search actually fixed your specific car problem versus a guy who's been elbows deep in engines for years? These parts stores are full of folks who just punch numbers into a screen, sure, but that one guy who walks you out knows which bolt is gonna be seized and which trick actually works. Why is it so hard to just admit that real experience still matters more than a YouTube video sometimes?

Walked me out to my car to show me the diagram" - that's the part I don't get. Why is that a good thing? You're a grown adult who can't look up a belt diagram on your phone in two seconds? Feels like they just wanted to get out of the store for a smoke break and you're acting like they performed open heart surgery.
Most of those guys behind the counter don't know the difference between a lug nut and a spark plug anyway. They're just reading a computer screen. You got lucky this time. Next time they'll hand you a belt for a 2018 Mustang and tell you it's a direct fit.
Your luck isn't changing. You just happened to catch the one guy who gives a damn. That's rare and it won't last.
