Vent: Threw away $50 on that fancy windshield repair goop from the auto parts store

Spent a whole Saturday afternoon following the directions perfectly on a 6-inch crack, and it just made the glass look worse and now I STILL have to pay a pro $120 to fix it anyway.

Blame the instructions on the bottle, not your work. Most of those DIY crack repair kits are made for little starburst chips, not a 6-inch line like that. Anything over 3 or 4 inches is way too long for the resin to fill evenly and the pressure just makes the crack spread or haze over. Honestly, it's a bummer you wasted your Saturday and that cash, but for next time just skip the kit and go straight to a pro if the crack is longer than a credit card. Tbh, saving yourself the stress is worth the $120.

Wait, credit card length cracks? A standard credit card is like 3.4 inches, so she's saying anything over that needs a pro. Most windshield repair kits tap out way sooner than that, like anything over 2 inches is already pushing it for the resin to work right. Still yeah, for a 6-inch line she was doomed from the start.

Same thing happened to me with a rock chip kit. Total waste of money.
