Changed my mind about meal prepping after a single Sunday blunder

I used to think meal prepping was a waste of time because I tried it once 2 years ago and got bored eating the same chicken and rice for 5 days straight. But last month my coworker Jenna convinced me to try again with a completely different approach after she showed me her system. She preps only 3 days worth of ingredients separately instead of cooking full meals, so I can mix and match things like roasted veggies, grilled meat, and different sauces. I tried it for a week and the big surprise was that it actually saved me 45 minutes each morning because I wasn't scrambling to pack lunch. The thing that really got me was how much less takeout I ordered, I spent only 35 bucks on groceries instead of my usual 60 from eating out. Has anyone else found a trick that made meal prepping actually work for them after hating it before?

Totally agree. Prepping ingredients not meals changed everything for me too.

Went through the exact same thing with my husband last year. He got sick of my pre-made meals after day three and started sneaking fast food again. So I started doing this thing where I just prep the parts, like you said, but I also make two different sauces ahead of time so we can switch things up midweek. Now he actually looks forward to his lunch bag instead of dreading it. It took me a few tries to find a rhythm that stuck, but once I did it became more like a game than a chore.

The sauce thing is genius! I started doing the same with different dressings and marinades and it completely saved meal prep for me too. It's wild how just switching up the flavor makes everything feel fresh again.
