Left my garage sale book in a Target cart, gone in 10 minutes

Last Saturday I ran into Target for dish soap and a new spatula, walked out and realized I left a $4 paperback from a garage sale sitting in the cart. Ran back and it was already gone, just 10 minutes tops. Someone must've grabbed it for the freebie or thought it was abandoned trash. That got me wondering, what if every lost item just teleports to a person who actually needs it more than you? I mean I didn't need that old mystery novel, but now I'm kinda curious who ended up with it. Has anyone else lost something weirdly fast and then obsessed over where it went?

Funny you mention that, because I used to think lost stuff was just gone forever, no big deal. Then last year I dropped my favorite sunglasses in a parking lot and someone had them in less than five minutes, I checked the cameras. It kinda flipped a switch for me, like maybe the universe does reroute things to people who need them more. Your mystery novel probably ended up with someone who was bored out of their mind waiting in the car, or a kid who needed a free book. Either way, I bet they got more joy out of it than you would have, so it's not a total loss. Now I almost hope my stuff ends up with somebody who appreciates it, even if I never find out who.
