My washing machine died mid-cycle at 7 AM, so I did the spin cycle in my bathtub
The drum just stopped with a groan while my work clothes were soaked and soapy. I had maybe 20 minutes before I needed to leave for my shift at the diner, so I hauled everything to the tub and stomped on it for 10 straight minutes. Rinsed twice, wrung it out by hand, and got to work with damp pants and a wet shirt. My coworker asked if I fell in a puddle, and I said "yep, exactly that." By the time I got home, the repair guy quoted $280 for a new motor, which is more than the machine is worth. Has anyone else just made do with a ridiculous hack instead of paying for the fix? I'm debating if a $90 used washer off Craigslist is worth the gamble.
