Shoutout to the random stranger who stopped me from ruining my birthday cake

I was at the grocery store last Saturday grabbing stuff for my kid's party and dropped a full carton of eggs right in aisle 7. A lady handed me her half-used pack without me even asking, which saved me from having to run back across the store with egg goo on my shoes. Has anyone else had a total stranger just fix your day like that?

People randomly look out for each other way more than we give humanity credit for lol.

But is it really "looking out" or just low-effort gestures that make people feel good about themselves? Like yeah, someone might hold the door for you, but that's basically zero risk or cost to them. What about the times when looking out actually requires something? Noticing a coworker getting burned out and saying something to a manager, or calling out a friend who's making bad choices. I'm more curious about the real uncomfortable stuff, not the easy stuff. You got any stories about someone actually going out of their way and it being awkward or hard?
