Vent: I used to sort all my laundry into like 5 piles, now I just throw everything in cold and hope for the best

Back in college I had this whole system - whites, darks, delicates, towels, jeans, each got their own load. Last week I literally threw a red sock in with a load of white t-shirts and just prayed. I think the shift happened around 2022 when I started working longer hours and just stopped caring. Has anyone else just given up on sorting laundry or am I the only one being this lazy?

My whites are officially referred to as "mostly gray" now.

I just started calling mine "seasoned whites" and it made me feel a lot better about it.

Seasoned whites is genius, I might have to steal that. Mine went from "cream" to "eggshell lying about their age" at this point. Mostly gray sounds almost dignified compared to where I'm at with my laundry.

Started soaking my whites in a bit of hydrogen peroxide and hot water before washing and it actually brought some life back into them. Not perfect but at least they're not "mystery gray" anymore lol. Also switched to a bleach alternative instead of regular bleach since that was making things worse over time. Took a few washes but now they're more like "vintage cream" which sounds way better than what they were before.
