My bank's security questions are getting way too personal

Last week I tried to reset my online banking password and they asked me what my first pet's middle name was. I don't even remember having a pet with a middle name, and I certainly never set that up. Has anyone else run into these weird security questions that feel like they were made up by someone?

Call your bank and ask them to reset your security questions. Tell them you never set those up and they'll usually let you pick new ones or just clear the old ones out. They pull questions from a standard list sometimes, and that list gets weird.

Yeah I used to just grind my teeth and try to guess those weird questions. But this makes a lot more sense actually, calling and asking them to clear the junk out is way smarter than playing twenty questions with a computer. I'm gonna try this next time my bank locks me out.
