The fake email about my student loans finally got me to change my passwords
Honestly I almost fell for one of those phishing emails that looked like it was from Navient saying I had a payment due. It looked so real I clicked the link and started typing my password before I caught myself. After that scare I set up 2FA on my email and my bank account which took maybe 10 minutes total. I also started using a password manager instead of reusing the same 3 passwords for everything. The whole thing made me realize how easy it is to slip up even when you think you're careful. Has anyone else had a close call like that where you almost gave away your login info?

Wait, am I the only one who thinks changing passwords after almost getting phished is putting the cart before the horse? In my experience, the real problem isn't your password strength. I've seen people with 20 character random passwords still get hacked because they clicked a fake login page. The phishing email itself is what needs to be avoided, not the password. Your 2FA is good, but if someone's already typing their password into a fake site, a password manager wont save them from handing over the master password. I'd focus on learning to spot those fake emails instead, take this with a grain of salt though.
