Update: My coupon app knows when I'm near the store and it freaks me out

Honestly, I signed up to save money on my weekly food shop. Tbh, the app now sends me alerts based on my location and what I usually buy, which feels like constant watching. Ngl, does anyone else think this level of tracking for a few dollars off is way too much?

My weather app started showing ads for nearby umbrellas last week.

Ugh, that's the perfect example. It feels like every app is trying to predict our next move now, not just show the weather or a map. They track so much data that the ads stop feeling random and start feeling like they're reading our minds. It's creepy because it's useful, like getting that umbrella ad right before it rains. We traded simple tools for these helpers that watch us all the time, and I'm not sure it was a good deal.

Remember when my maps app suggested a pizza place I'd only thought about.
