Had to choose between a fancy Italian place and a dive bar for a first date. I picked wrong.

Honestly I was torn between this place called Giuseppe's on Main and a cheap dive bar called The Rusty Nail. My friend convinced me Giuseppe's was more romantic so I went with that. Midway through the meal my date spilled red wine all over my white shirt and then the waiter accidentally dropped a plate of spaghetti on her lap. Tbh I should have gone with the dive bar where expectations are lower. Has anyone else had a fancy date backfire like this?

Giuseppe's on Main actually has a 4.2 rating on Yelp but their tables are way too close together, like elbow-bumping distance from the next couple. That crowded layout probably made the spill situation worse since the waiter had no room to maneuver around your table. Did you notice if the wine stain matched the carpet pattern? I overheard a server complain they use cheap dye that bleeds through glass stems.

You sure it was the restaurant's fault though? I mean, not to be that person, but sometimes bad dates are just bad dates regardless of where you go... Spilled wine and dropped spaghetti sounds more like a comedy of errors than a fancy place being cursed. Honestly, a dive bar could've had a sticky floor and a loud jukebox making it impossible to talk. Maybe you dodged a bullet with that particular date, you know? Sometimes the "wrong" pick is actually a favor in disguise. At least now you have a funny story to tell instead of a boring one about cheap beers.

@mila_perry13 nailed it, cheap dye is the real villain here.
