Heard a woman say she 'tests' guys by ordering the most expensive thing on the menu

Was grabbing coffee last week and overheard two girls at the next table. One said she always orders the priciest steak or lobster on a first date just to see if the guy flinches. She called it a 'stress test' for his finances. Really rubbed me the wrong way because dating already feels like a minefield without people setting traps. Has anyone else run into this kind of testing behavior?
