I finally fixed a slow bathroom sink drain after 6 months of just ignoring it
Yeah so my bathroom sink has been draining slower and slower since maybe last winter. I kept telling myself I'd deal with it next weekend. Well last Saturday I finally took the trap apart and found this solid mass of hair and soap scum that looked like a science experiment. It took me maybe 20 minutes total to clean it out with a wire hanger and some baking soda. I honestly wasted like 180 days of frustration over a 20 minute fix. Has anyone else put off a super simple repair for way too long?

Make sure you clean out the pop-up stopper too if you have one. That little part gets just as nasty as the trap.

You ever try pulling that pop-up stopper out and find a slimy clump of hair and toothpaste gunk underneath? Disgusting. I use an old toothbrush to scrub it down once a month. Makes a huge difference in how fast the sink drains.

Holy crap, wait - you actually pull the whole stopper out? I've never even thought to do that, I just pour drain cleaner down there like a chump. Thanks for the tip @amy154, I'm gonna have to try that before my sink completely gives up on me.
