I finally stopped doing the fancy steak dinner on first dates
After 4 months of blowing $80 plus on nice restaurants and getting zero second dates, I switched to cheap taco trucks and walks around the park in Austin. The difference was insane, people actually talked instead of staring at menus and worrying about splitting the bill. Has anyone else found that low pressure spots filter out the wrong matches way better?

Took my wife to that new rooftop place downtown last month, the one with the tasting menu and the candles everywhere. Spent way too much on a five course thing where the main dish was basically three bites of duck. But here's the thing, she still talks about that night. We've done cheap diner breakfasts and takeout in the car too, but that one fancy night stuck with her in a way the others didn't. So yeah, I'm with you on this one. Sometimes the price tag is worth it just for the way they light up.
