Just realized I used to plan every single date like a military operation with 3 backup plans
Back in my early 20s I'd map out restaurants, parking spots, conversation topics, even exit strategies if things went south. Had a spreadsheet and everything lol. Then last year I took this girl to a taco joint in Austin that I'd never been to before, no reservation, no plan B. We ended up waiting 45 minutes for a table and just talked the whole time. Best date I'd ever been on. Ever since then I just pick a general area and go with it. Has anyone else ditched the overplanning thing and had it work out better?

Had a spreadsheet and everything" - okay that actually made me laugh out loud. But man, that taco joint story hit close to home. I used to be the same way, I'd have a whole notebook for dates with timetables and color coded sections. Then I tried the whole "just show up and see what happens" approach and it was like a weight lifted off my shoulders. The waiting time is the best part, you're just there talking without any pressure to impress. Now I barely know what street I'm going to until I'm in the car.

My best friend was literally the queen of overplanning. She had a Google Doc with tabs for potential date spots, her outfit options, and even backup conversation topics. One time she spent three hours mapping out the perfect route for a coffee date that would pass by five different landmarks just in case things got awkward. She finally snapped after her meticulously planned picnic date got rained out, like thunderstorm level rained out. Now she just texts people "meet me at that place on 5th" and hopes for the best. Honestly seeing her go from color-coded spreadsheets to winging it has been the most freeing thing to watch.
