Just realized my date was faking her whole personality

Met this woman at a coffee shop last Tuesday and she spent 20 minutes talking about her love for indie films, then when I mentioned one she claimed she saw, she said oh I don't really watch movies. Whole thing felt like she was reading off a script. Who else has caught someone pretending to be into something just to impress you?

She claimed she loved hiking once then got winded walking up three stairs.

Hiking means different things to different people. Maybe she meant she likes the idea of it more than the actual physical part.

Read an article once that said people lie in about 60 percent of conversations just to seem more interesting. It's not always malicious, sometimes they just don't want to look boring. That indie movie thing is a classic move though. Or the hiking thing, I've met three people who claimed they were "outdoorsy" until they saw a bug. I'd rather someone just say they're not into something than fake it and have to keep up the act all night.
