My date called me out for rambling and it actually helped

I was on a third date with this girl Sarah at a bar in Austin and I kept jumping between stories about work, my dog, and some random movie I saw. She straight up said "dude you talk like you're nervous and trying to fill silence" and it hit me hard. So I started pausing more and asking her questions instead of just vomiting words. Has anyone else had a date give you feedback that stung but actually made your future dates better?

Man, I got a buddy who talks exactly like that and his wife says it's one of the things she loves most about him. Sometimes filling the silence just means you're excited to be there, y'know?

Funny you say that, I had a friend who used to ramble every time we hung out and I thought it was just nerves. Turns out he was just so excited to share whatever random thing popped into his head that he couldn't hold it in. His girlfriend told me it's one of the reasons she knew he was really into her from the start.
