My date in Phoenix last month ended with a cactus and a cop

We went for a hike at South Mountain, and he insisted on taking a 'shortcut' off the trail. He slipped and fell right into a prickly pear. I spent 45 minutes pulling spines out of his leg with my car's first aid kit tweezers. A park ranger showed up, gave us a warning, and just stared at us. Has anyone else had a date turn into a medical emergency?

Why do bad dates always involve nature?

Because honestly, how many times can you pretend to be fascinated by a weird bug before you both just give up? It feels like a trap where you're stuck with no easy exit and the pressure to have a 'magical' time. So what was the specific natural disaster, a surprise downpour or just the awkward silence next to a scenic lake?

Wait, "pretend to be fascinated by a weird bug" from @the_hugo is way too real. That's the exact moment you know it's over, because you're both just staring at the ground trying to find something, anything, to talk about. Nature dates sound good in theory, but then you're just trapped with no walls and a person you suddenly realize you have zero in common with. The pressure to enjoy the pretty view while dying inside is a special kind of torture. It's never just a walk, it's a test you're both failing.
