My date tried to order for me and then argued with the waiter about the wine list
Honestly, went out with this guy last week at a bar in Portland, and when I asked for a water he told the waiter I'd have a Cabernet instead. Then he spent 10 minutes debating a $35 bottle with the waiter, saying the 2018 was 'too acidic' when he didn't even know what that meant. Has anyone else dealt with someone who tries to control the whole vibe like that?

... but did he actually end up ordering that expensive bottle for himself after making a big show of it, or did he just sit there all awkward with a glass of water? Cause that's the real test of whether he's trying to impress you or just control the situation.

it's wild how this whole thing bleeds into regular life too, you know? like yesterday at the grocery store i saw a guy make a big deal about picking out the most expensive cut of steak, but then he tried to haggle with the cashier over a 50 cent coupon. it's never really about the money, it's about who they think they're performing for in that moment.
