My date went from a nice dinner to a full blown lecture on ductwork

We met for tacos last Friday, and the first hour was fine. Then he asked what I did for a living, and I said I was an HVAC tech. For the next forty five minutes, he gave me an unsolicited, detailed breakdown of why my entire industry's approach to residential duct sizing is fundamentally flawed, complete with napkin diagrams. The check sat there untouched the whole time. Is it fair to turn a simple date into a free consulting session, or was he just passionately nerding out?

My last date tried to give me free legal advice for an hour. Honestly, I just started asking him really basic questions about his own job until he got flustered and changed the subject. Worked like a charm.

Oh man, I actually love that kind of date. Getting a free deep dive from someone who's super into their thing? That's a good time to me, even if I don't agree. The napkin diagrams are a bonus. I'd have probably argued about static pressure just to keep it going.

That forty-five minute duct lecture makes @park.robin's legal advice sound fun.
