Overheard my date's friend call her about a bet she made with her roommate

So I'm in the bathroom at this restaurant in Austin two weeks ago, and I hear my date's voice talking to someone. She didn't know I was in the stall. She told her friend she bet her roommate $50 she could get me to pay for everything before dessert. I stayed quiet, finished up, and when I got back to the table I told her I forgot my wallet. Her face dropped. Has anyone else ever caught something like this before dinner even ended?

Oh man, that is cold. Reminds me of the time I was at a potluck and overheard my neighbor bragging to his buddy that he'd "forgotten" his dish on purpose because he knew I always bring extra. I just smiled, ate my food, and when he came over looking for some of my famous pasta salad I told him sorry, I only brought enough for myself. His face did that same drop yours did. Some people really think they're slick huh. Good on you for turning the tables.
