Rant: My date's 'quick' apartment tour turned into a 90 minute furniture assembly project
He said he just needed to 'pop a leg on a new table' before we left, but the instructions were missing and the hardware was wrong. We spent an hour and a half on the floor of his place in Denver trying to make it work before I just called a cab. Has anyone else had a simple pre-date task completely hijack the evening?

Wasn't my date, but my friend got stuck helping her guy pick out a whole new grill right before a cookout date. The plan for burgers turned into a two hour debate at the hardware store about briquettes versus propane. She said the whole night just felt like an errand after that.

Oh man, I read an article once that called this "task baiting," where someone lures you in with a simple plan and then swaps it for manual labor. That table leg story is a perfect example. It stops being a date and turns into unpaid help with the world's worst puzzle. Honestly, after the first fifteen minutes of that mess, I'd have been out the door too.

Yeah the "two hour debate at the hardware store" part is so real. It's like once you get roped into the errand, the whole vibe of the date just disappears and you're just doing chores together.
