Showerthought: Why does everyone think a fancy restaurant automatically means a good date?
I took someone to a hole-in-the-wall pho spot for $8 and we talked for 3 hours, but my friend spent $150 at a steakhouse downtown and said it was the most awkward silence of her life, so can we stop pretending the price tag makes the vibe?

Ngl, isn't the conversation what actually makes the date good though?

Wait, did your friend actually just sit there in silence across a $60 steak?
Honestly I went with my friend Sarah to this taco truck last summer, she was venting about her last date. Some guy took her to a super tiny sushi place where the waitress recited the specials like fine poetry, total bill was like $200. She said they barely spoke, kept just looking at the table setting like it was a museum. Then the week after that I was with her at a diner where this dude spilled coffee on his shirt five minutes in and they ended up laughing for two hours straight. Price tag means nothing when you can't even crack a joke across the table.
