Spent $80 on a fancy speed dating event and got zero matches

I paid $80 for a speed dating thing at a bar downtown last Friday, thinking it would be better than apps. Turns out the ratio was way off, like 20 guys and 8 women, and I barely got to talk to anyone. Has anyone else tried those paid events and felt totally ripped off?

Everything good now costs a fortune and delivers half what it promises.

Yeah but I wouldn't say the ratio was off, more like they oversold tickets to guys without enough women signing up. I went to one of these last year and same thing happened. They let in way too many men and then acted surprised nobody got matches. The whole thing felt like a cash grab from single people looking for a shortcut.

$80 and all I got was a night of making awkward small talk with a bartender about how the nachos were overpriced too. The ratio thing is brutal when you do the math and realize you basically paid $10 per minute of actual conversation with a woman who wasn't already looking at her phone. My buddy went to one of these last month and said the only match he got was with the event organizer's spam email about their next "special event." At least on the apps I can get rejected for free in the comfort of my own home. Might as well flush that cash down the toilet next time and skip the awkward chitchat.
