The waiter who argued with me about the wine pairing before I even got a sip

I was at this Italian place in downtown Portland called Mama Rosa's (name changed, you know). I ordered a Chianti with my lasagna, and the waiter literally put his hand on the bottle and said 'No, you want the Pinot Noir, trust me.' He wouldn't pour it until I argued back for a solid 2 minutes. I finally just told him to bring both, drank the Chianti first, and he gave me this look like I'd insulted his grandmother. Has anyone else had a server try to override your order like they know better?

Happens everywhere now. People forget how to just let others make their own choices. Everyone's an expert on everything.

Tbh I gotta push back a little on this one. People telling others what to do isn't new, it's just louder now because everyone's online. Like my neighbor tried to lecture me for feeding stray cats in our alley, said I was attracting pests. I don't see how that's any different from somebody on Facebook telling you how to raise your kids or what to eat. We've always had busybodies, the internet just gave them a megaphone.
