This guy on a podcast said his date brought her own Tupperware to a steakhouse
He was telling this story about a first date at a fancy place in Chicago. She pulled out a container from her bag and asked the waiter to box up half her meal before she even started eating. The host said it was the most awkward silence he's ever felt, and the date ended right after the check came. It got me thinking about weird date habits that just kill the vibe. What's the most off-putting thing someone has done right in front of you on a date?

Right, because five minutes is basically a lifetime in dinner table terms. People act like a quick call is the same as pulling out a laptop and working through the entree.
@the_holly's mom call story is a bit much, but her heart was probably in the right place.
If you're still eating together, the call's already over. Probably worth saving the outrage for when someone actually orders dessert while dialing into a conference.
