TIL a dishwasher can cook a salmon fillet perfectly (and my date was horrified)

I went on a date with this guy who bragged about being a foodie, you know the type. He took me to his place for dinner and I watched him wrap a salmon fillet in foil and put it in the dishwasher. He ran it on the heavy cycle, said it steams it at 140 degrees for 45 minutes. Honestly, the fish came out flaky and delicious, but I couldn't stop thinking about the soap residue risk. He got offended when I asked if he ran it empty first, called me paranoid. Has anyone else seen this dishwasher cooking thing or was this just the weirdest date flex ever?

Tried this once with a whole trout wrapped in foil and honestly it came out perfect lol. Just had to run the dishwasher empty on hot first to feel safe about it.

Gotta call out a small detail here though - dishwashers don't actually hit 140 degrees on the heavy cycle, more like 150-160 for the drying part. So that salmon was probably cooking at a slightly higher temp than 140 for a bit, which explains why it came out flaky instead of mushy lol. Still wild to think about eating food from the same machine that cleans your pasta sauce off plates tho.
