Drove a 6.0 Powerstroke for 8 years before I finally swapped to a 12-valve Cummins
Back in 2015 I bought a bulletproofed 6.0 F-250 from a guy in Spokane. It ran fine for years but I always had that nagging feeling in the back of my head about head gaskets and EGR coolers. Last summer I found a clean 1996 12-valve with a manual trans from a farmer in Yakima for $7,500. Made the switch and honestly I don't miss the Powerstroke one bit. Anyone else make the jump from one platform to another and have regrets or relief?

Jumped from a 7.3 to a 5.9 about 5 years ago. My 7.3 was reliable but I got tired of chasing fuel issues and the lack of power. The 12-valve just starts and goes no matter what, and the manual trans makes it way more fun to drive. Your mileage might vary but I slept better after making the switch too.

Dunno @the_logan, I'd rather fix a fuel issue than deal with VP44 problems any day.

Man that VP44 nightmare is the main reason I stick with my 7.3.
