Correcting monitor color shifts for my first online art gallery
When I first shared my digital paintings online, I felt proud. However, feedback came that colors did not match my original work on other screens. On my own monitor, everything looked fine, so I was confused. I spent time reading community tips and discovered color profiles. Adjusting my software settings and file exports fixed the issue. Today, many sites manage color for you, which is simpler. Learning this old-school way gave me a deeper understanding. I value that knowledge, even if tools now do the heavy lifting.

Old-school way gave you a deeper understanding" is a nice way of saying your monitor gaslit you for months. You're over there thinking your sunset is perfect, meanwhile on my phone it looks like a radioactive pumpkin. Glad you figured it out before you started selling portraits where everyone had green skin.

My buddy Marcus printed a whole batch of wedding photos where the bride's dress looked mint green. He'd been editing on this cheap monitor his mom gave him, swore the whites were perfect. Poor guy had to eat the reprint costs and now keeps color calibration cards next to his coffee.

Calibration cards help, but you still need a decent monitor to start with.
