Found a brush setting that saved my landscapes after 6 years of frustration

I accidentally stumbled on the "smudge" tool in Procreate while trying to blend a sunset and it finally gave me that soft, painterly look I've been chasing since 2018. Has anyone else found a random tool that just clicked after ignoring it forever?

Gonna have to respectfully disagree on this one. The smudge tool always makes my landscapes look like muddy watercolors no matter how light I go. I’ve had way better luck just layering different opacities with a soft airbrush. Might be a personal preference thing, but I’d rather spend an extra hour building up layers than fighting with smudge streaks.

Honestly Paul, I switched to a blur tool on low strength and never looked back.
