I actually had better results using a mouse instead of a drawing tablet for my digital paintings

Everyone in this community swears by Wacom or iPad Pro for digital art. I used a $40 Huion tablet for like 2 years and my linework was always shaky. Then my tablet broke last month and I had to finish a commission using just my gaming mouse. The strokes came out way smoother and I had more control over pressure just by adjusting my grip. I know it sounds backwards but I've done 3 pieces since then with the mouse and they look cleaner than anything I did with a tablet. Has anyone else tried skipping the tablet and just using a mouse for line art?

47 years old and been installing flooring for 25 years. My hands don't work like they used to after all that kneeling and gripping tools. Tried a tablet once and my wrist locked up after 20 minutes. Mouse lets me rest my whole forearm on the desk and just move from the shoulder. Never gone back.

Dude, I'm literally in the same boat right now. I used a tablet for years and my lines were always wobbly, it drove me nuts. Last week I tried doing a piece with my gaming mouse out of pure laziness (didn't want to go find my tablet in the other room) and the control was way better. My curves came out smooth and I could actually lock in the thickness without fighting the tablet. Honestly feels like the tech is overhyped for linework, mouse just has that tactile feedback tablets are missing.

Yeah I heard some digital artists swear by using a mouse for line control.
