Just realized my $300 Wacom tablet was a total waste of money for my art style
I draw mostly with strong, simple shapes and the pen pressure just makes my lines look wobbly. But my friend says the control is essential for her painterly portraits. Anyone else feel like their tools don't match their process?

Totally get that. My old tablet collected dust for YEARS because my "art style" is basically angry stick figures with bad hair. Felt like using a race car to go get the mail. Some tools are just overkill for what you actually do.

Sometimes the race car makes you want to drive more though.

Funny how that works... my own tablet felt like a waste until I turned the pressure sensitivity way down. Now it just gives me clean, even lines for flat colors and shapes. The hardware can be tuned to match a simpler style instead of forcing you into painterly stuff. Sometimes you just need to fight the default settings a bit.
