The moment I picked a drawing tablet over Photoshop and it actually worked out
Honestly, I spent like two months going back and forth between upgrading my tablet or buying the full Adobe suite for my digital paintings. I ended up going with a refurbished Wacom Intuos for $150 instead of the $600 year plan for Photoshop. After a few days of getting used to the pressure sensitivity, I found my lines got way cleaner and I stopped relying so much on filters. It forced me to learn proper brush control and layering in Krita, which is basically free. Has anyone else had that thing where spending less actually pushed your skills further?

And that's EXACTLY it, the limits actually teach you. When I switched to Krita I had to figure out how to blend colors manually instead of just slapping on a soft light layer and calling it a day. My early stuff looked pretty rough but after a few weeks I could actually see the improvement in my brush strokes. The Wacom Intuos is honestly perfect for learning too, it gives you enough pressure levels to feel the difference but not so many settings that you get lost tweaking stuff. I still use Photoshop for client work sometimes but my personal art got WAY better after I stopped relying on all those expensive tools to carry me.

Yeah exactly, sometimes having less is more when you're trying to actually get better. I went through the same thing when I switched tools, it's rough at first but you come out way stronger on the other side.
