Vent: My digital portraits looked flat for months until I tried a new brush pack

I was stuck making faces that felt like paper cutouts, especially with skin tones. Then about three weeks ago, I downloaded a free set of textured brushes from an artist named Kaela. The difference is wild, my latest piece has this soft, real look I could never get before. Has anyone else found a specific brush or tool that fixed a big problem in their art?

Yeah, but a good brush isn't just moving pixels, it's how it lays down the paint. That texture makes all the difference for skin, you can't really fake it with just a soft round brush.

Was it the texture brushes that helped the most, or did they also have a specific blender brush in that pack? I've found that a good blender brush can make skin tones look way more alive, like it pulls the colors together instead of just smearing them.

Oh man, are we really getting this deep into brush theory? It's just a tool that moves pixels around. I've made skin look fine with the basic round brush and a lower opacity. Sometimes I think we overcomplicate this stuff chasing the perfect "alive" look.
