Why I switched from Procreate to Krita for my art and it's not even close

I spent two years doing all my digital paintings on Procreate because everyone says it's the best. Then last month I tried Krita on a Windows laptop and the difference was huge. Krita has way better brush engines and the color blending actually works like real paint. I finished a commission piece in 4 hours that would have taken me 8 in Procreate because of the layer management tools. If you're doing complex art with lots of layers, give Krita a shot before you spend more money on another iPad app. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed the same thing with workflow speed?

Is it really that serious though? I mean Procreate works fine for 95% of what people do, and Krita takes some real getting used to with all its menus and options. I tried Krita once and spent 20 minutes just trying to figure out where the basic brush settings were hiding. For a commission piece, sure maybe you save time once you learn it, but for the average doodler it feels like overkill.

Yeah Krita's layer workflow is way faster. I switched a few months back and the difference really hit me when I was doing a big character piece with like 30 layers. The way Krita handles layer groups and masks just makes more sense to me. Plus the brush lag is way less on my older laptop compared to Procreate on my iPad.

Wait have you noticed that too with the brush lag? Honestly I switched from Procreate to Krita about a year ago and I thought I was the only one who noticed how much smoother it runs on older hardware. My laptop is like 5 years old and Krita just chugs along fine while Procreate on my iPad would start stuttering after like 15 layers. Tbh the layer management in Krita feels way more intuitive once you get past the learning curve. People complain about the interface but I think it rewards you for putting in a little time upfront.
