My uncle claimed I was 'wasting money' on olive oil at Thanksgiving

I brought a bottle of $14 single-origin stuff from a shop downtown for the salad dressing, and my uncle said store brand is the same thing. He poured a splash on a napkin and said the color proves it's just dyed vegetable oil. Has anyone ever actually won an argument about pantry basics at the table?

I read somewhere that real olive oil solidifies in the fridge and fake stuff doesn't.

Yeah @vera_campbell is totally right! I tested mine last week and the real stuff got all cloudy and thick.
