Frustrated with a lemon-scented dish soap that did nothing

I bought a big bottle of that Mrs. Meyer's lemon verbena dish soap last week because I liked the smell in the store. Got it home and the scent barely lasted through one wash, plus it left a weird film on my glasses. I had to re-wash everything with a drop of Dawn to actually cut through the grease. Has anyone else found that fancy soaps just don't hold up on real messes?

Oh wow, wait... you're telling me you actually got a whole sink of hot water out of that tiny little bottle?! I burned through half my bottle in three days doing it the way @jennysullivan mentioned with the sponge trick, but even then the scent was gone before I finished drying. The film on glasses drove me absolutely bonkers too, I had to re-wash my wine glasses twice last weekend. I honestly feel ripped off paying that much for something that can't handle a simple pan of scrambled eggs without leaving residue behind.

Wait, did you try using less water with that Mrs. Meyer's? I found their soaps actually work okay if you squeeze a good amount straight onto a sponge or brush, not into a sink full of water. But yeah, that film on glasses is annoying lol, I switched back to regular Dawn for that reason too. What kind of messes were you dealing with, like bacon grease or just everyday stuff?

Funny you mention that, I started doing the same thing and it made a world of difference for me too.
