I finally broke down and tried the lemon scented Palmolive after 10 years of being a Dawn loyalist
My bottle of Dawn tipped over behind the sink last Tuesday and leaked all over the counter, and since I was out of backups I grabbed what my roommate had under the cabinet, and now I'm honestly questioning if I've been missing out on a whole different citrus vibe this whole time - anyone else ever switch brands out of desperation and end up liking it better?

That whole "grabbing whatever's there in a pinch" thing has this weird way of opening your eyes to stuff you'd never consider otherwise... kind of like how I discovered I actually prefer store brand ketchup after running out of Heinz one time.

Man, that's a dangerous game you're playing! Next thing you know you'll be buying the generic brand of cheese puffs and never looking back. I swear, store brand ketchup is just as good most of the time, maybe even better if you're the type who likes it a little sweeter. It's like when I grabbed some random barbecue sauce from a gas station in Nevada once - ended up being my favorite smoky flavor I've had in years. But don't tell my wife, she'd have a fit if she knew I ditched her fancy organic stuff for something off a shelf next to motor oil.

Look, I gotta call you out on this one. That store brand ketchup thing is a slippery slope. I tried that exact experiment three years ago after a camping trip where Heinz wasn't available, and the generic stuff just tastes like sweetened red paste with none of that tangy vinegar kick. I ended up throwing out a half full bottle because it made my fries sad. There's a reason Heinz has been around since 1876 and it's not just good marketing, it's the recipe. Store brands swap out real sugar for corn syrup and cut corners on the tomato concentrate, and you can absolutely taste the difference in a blind test. Keep playing this game and you'll end up with a pantry full of off brand everything, wondering why your burgers don't taste right anymore.
